He wanted to start an archery club at John Glenn where kids could shoot real bows and arrows, and learn hunting skills. He dreamed of a program that would culminate in actual deer hunts, where kids would set up their own deer stands and learn tracking and woods skills. (more)

I like reading post like this. I wish more teacher and schools would put on programs like this. In stead of teaching the tree-hugger ways.

Fremont Middle School (Newaygo Co) has had archery for the last five years.
The neatest part of the article to me was the actual field trips and the real hunting experience. That is special.

I had to pull this up again. My studnetsa are asking me to sponsor an archery program. It would be brand new and we have no equipment or anything! Cross your fingers, here I go.

Wait until PETA hears what they're doing at our schools:eek: ;) :D I wish I had enough time to start something like that around here. Great story!
