Young hunter, 13, bags two big bucks in three-day span
Kevin Leith couldn't even imagine the kind of luck he would have six weeks into Michigan's bowhunting season. The 13-year-old Martin hunter took not one, but two handsome bucks within three days.
The largest of the two bucks, and the second of his season, had a 10-point rack with an 22 1/2-inch outside spread. It weighed 248 pounds before it was field dressed. The other was a striking 9-pointer with a 17 3/4-inch outside spread.

What!!! All that and no pics?!? That's just a teaser. Could you imagine...13 years old and 2 trophy deer. I'm 32 and still waiting for my trophy buck. Some day....some day.

Big K, there were very impressive pictures in the Grand Rapids Press. I saw them as I read the Venture Outdoor section this weekend. Howard Myerson usually has good pictures with his articles.
All the MLive newspaper sites are owned by Booth News chain. That chain is a cheap low quality news chain that has no pictures with any web articles. The Detroit papers, Traverse City Record Eagle, Ludington Daily News, and most other papers do have pictures. I feel sorry for Bob Gwizdz and Howard Myerson that have to work for Booth in order to have a job, put up with no pictures on the website, and then have the news chain go anti-hunting with their anti- dove hunting editorials. We have the Muskegon Chronicle in my area and refer to it as the Muskegon Comical for its inaccurate and bias reporting. The Muskegon Comical only has a small portion of the Venture Outdoors in Sunday, so I have to check GR Press in order to see what was missing from Muskegon's Comical.

I don't know about you guys but my experience with young hunters that shoot trophy deer seem to get the belief that deer hunting is easy. It's still great to hear but I believe that they don't get the appreciation of hunting deer when they get one in their first year. I'm not saying pass on the big ones but I think it's just unfortunate that they get one.
A friend of mine's 14 year old got a beautiful 8 point last year. I talked to him a few weeks ago and asked if he was ready for this year. He told me that he'll start getting ready the day before because it's not that hard to shoot a deer. Talk about spoiled. I just hope that he doesn't loose interest in hunting due to it be "so easy".
Ok maybe I'm just jealous because I've been hunting for 15 year now and only have a 5 point and a spike to my name. But that keeps me going out thinking that this could be the time.;) ;)

Yes, in part that is true. In any deer camp the novice often gets lucky. After that we just harp on them that it is all downhill from here. The rest of us have something to look forward to. This also applies to lucky fishing as well.
