Who is going out this weekend?
Here is part of dnr report for 11/13:
---
Slow fishing was reported on Lake St. Clair. Some perch have been caught off Nine Mile and Ten Mile Roads in 5 to 8 feet of water, but the fish seem scattered. Shore anglers are fishing near the Coast Guard Station and catching some perch in the 12 to 15 inch range. Musky fishing has been very good and anglers have been catching some very large fish. Perch have been caught in the St. Clair River near the North Channel.
---
What mile road is the coast guard station near?
I will out with my son in blue/white crestliner, somewhere between metro beach and 9 mile road in 6-8 fow. If not there, will head over by cotton rd.
See ya out there!

Coast Guard station is 2 side streets south of 10 Mile, just north of Miller Marina, and the 8 story high rise.
Good luck,

I'll be out both days, heading to the St Clair River today for walleyes. Sunday is a perch mission, starting near the Canadian weather buoy and heading NE towards the Bassett. It'll be my second time over there ever, first time as the driver. I think that's a good plan???? I'll be on CH 68 if anyone wants to give a shout.
I was at the lake this morning before dawn. The water is still VERY dirty from the windstorm.

I'll probably be out Sunday but I have a feeling I might just be going for a boat ride. The wind finally laid down last night but it was still blowing a bit most of the day yesterday so I'm not sure we'll find much fishable water. Typically the area around the Basset and Johnson clean up first but I just got off the radio with a buddy that said it was still too dirty over there. Hopefully by tomorrow morning it will clean up a bit. The wind has been blowing from the west and southwest so maybe the U.S. shore has some cleaner water. I hope it doesn't come down to that because I haven't fished for Perch on the U.S. side all year. Oh well, I guess you have to play the hand that is delt to you.
John, ever consider moving to Canada? You sure would save a lot of gas.;)

What ya mean dere eh? The fish over dere aren't as smart as on the yank side eh. Easier to catch dere eh! ;)
Sorry my Canadian friends, I love fishing that side of the lake except for I few laws that could use revising. As far as gas goes, I'm a VIP at the corner station. :p

Well, looks like I'm by myself tomorrow but I'm going to give it a try. I talked to a guy that said the water was cleaning up by the Bassett and Johnson but in the same breath, he didn't catch squat over there today. Those gale force winds may have scattered them but for us working stiffs, its my only chance to go. I'll be scanning 6, 9, 71, 79 and a few others. I'll let you guys know if I get into them and PLEASE do the same. Sounds like it could be a tough day out there tomorrow but I'm going to give it my best shot. Good luck to you other die hards! :)
Good luck John. Last look I had at the lake, it was still looking awfully thick..

My son and I launched out of Metro yesterday.
Mud! Mud! Mud! Water was a nice brown color from Harley ensign down to 10 mile from close to shore to about 8-10 fow. Wind didnot help either.
Did find the coast guard station. Had couple of bites on the slip bobber rig.
Lockjaw on the fish, even in the Metro Beach canal back to the launch.
May try today, thinking about Algonac, North Channel launches.

Tonga, when you fish up there where do you launch, the dnr launch near deckers landing or the dnr launch in Algonac? I will probably be up there around noonish or little after. Going to church at 10 am and will head out after to either one of those 2.
Let me know here. thanks.

if I have to use a launch I normally use the ramp in fair haven ,,right by my house,,,,but most of the time I have a boat sitting in the water by the Colony tower!,,thats why I was trying to get info from Hotwired,,it would be a very short boat ride to Deckers!!

Well decided to give it a whirl, water was very dirty as many of you already reported, fog/drizzle only allowed about 2 mile visibility thus looking for any sign of clear water was tough, just had to drive around (never did find any clear water). Marked several fish in 16 FOW 3 miles out from 10 mile and then about 3 miles out from Fords Cove. Both locations it appeared that the fish were schooled up, assuming that they were perch I fished both areas with slip bobbers and crappie rigs, didn't catch a thing. Tried 10 FOW in several locations closer to shore, didn't mark any fish. I did notice that the water was less dirty as you go out (1 foot visibility closer to shore 3 foot visibilty 3 miles out). Hope this helps those heading out in the next couple of days.:o
Heard a couple guys on 68 they were also unsuccessful in finding clear water.
No fish, but still better than a good day ay work

Well I'd bet somebody, somewhere on LSC caught fish today but it wasn't anybody I know. What a tough day. I put an easy 50 - 60 miles on the rig today determined to find some active fish. Tried everywhere between St. Lukes and Fair Haven with many many stops in between. Ended up with 14 keepers. :( Most of the spots I wanted to fish were chocolate milk so I kept looking for weedbeds and clean water with very little sucess. One more day like this and I just might take up ice fishing.

Well, Gone Fishing I have to believe that next week end will be better, this is the first time this that I got Skunked this year. I kind of figured it would be slow but not zippo. Work schedule and early dark make it hard to head out other than week ends. Hopefully others heading out for the nice temps on Tuesday will do well.:o

Fished 3/4 miles east of the Canadian weather buoy, anchored down at 7am, caught one nice perch at 7:30. At 8am, headed east another 3 miles or so and hit chocalate milk with one inch visibility. Headed NNW just off the Bassett, water clarity O.K., no fish. Headed west back to clean water and tried the clean side of the mud line.....no fish, they were there, just not biting. Went back to the first spot by the weather bouy, started catching one decent perch about every 5 minutes. That lasted for a whole 20 minutes, sat around for a while, then headed back to Bouvier Bay.
I was out with IFN, we decided to hit some canals off of Swan Creek, where we picked up a few Crappies and a few more perch.
8 hours of fishing, 10 keepers for myself. IFN's size standards are a little lower than mine, he had a nice mess of fish in his pail. Will be out again next weekend, looks like a warm spell may be headed our way.............
I was up early Sunday, so I headed to The Pond. Water was flat as a pancake, and the color of mud. Fished from 6-9 AM, saw no activity in the water other than a bowfin laying right up against the shore, and one minnow my bait scared out of the water. I will be launching Friday no matter what. 50mph winds will simply keep me on the flats........

"launching friday no matter what!" "50 mile mph winds will simply keep me on the flats!"
I would call that a "can do attitude!"

Supposed to blow Tuesday and Wednesday but if the lake cleans up by Friday, I might give it a shot. After my last couple Perch trips, I'm almost ready to give Muskie a shot although the floating weeds I saw yesterday would have made that type of venture pretty miserable.
Just cast for them John, you will have your lure on board to clean it every minute or so that way.:) Ramlund Man is coming up from Lima, but I have room for you if you want to join us.:)

I'll let you know Paul. I really want to get some more Perch in the freezer but I don't want another trip like yesterday. I'll watch the weather and make a decision. Feel free to fill the open seat if you have a taker. My rig is ready to go and my boss may be up for a trip.

Decided not to go out to the lake because it was already 1pm when we got home. Went up to port huron instead. Fished the boardwalk behind the city building there.
Pulled 1 real nice wallaye, 3.5 lbs. Came close to a second one about 2lbs but could not get the net in fast enough, splash! Walked/casted close to the wall with a 3/8 oz jig head and 4" yamimoto grubs.
I guy pulled a wallaye but it had major warts on it, sort of like tumors growing on it. Yuck! It went back to were it came from.

The warts are actually tumors, if what I've read is true. I beleive the DNR said they are safe to eat, just cut around them, yeah, right! Mine have gone back.

I think the tumors on the walleye are actually a skin ailment that can be spread from walleye to walleye. you can catch fish with the same skin tumors in untouched lakes in the north. I have read it's not from pollution. I have also read that fishermen should keep the infected fish to help stop the spread. I'm sure someone knows more.

I have caught walleye with the wart's or tumor's whatever you want to call them.
I was told a long time ago it has no effect on the meat, when you filet and skin the fish, they go with the skin.
I have eaten them with no ill effects, and I have caught some that were so loaded with them that even I threw them back.
