Alright I know those of you that live in the UP hate us trolls but a up rut activity report sure would be great. My father found a nice scrape last weekend and I am bringing two kids 17 and 18 up for there first deer camp so I really want to get them near some deer. Plus my familly has a cabin in the UP so we arnt really true trolls :)

P.S. any UP report would be great a west UP report would be even better.

Brandon, Not a full time Yooper here. Like you I'm a troll but with the bow season almost over I'll say this.

It has bee an interesting bow season to say the least. Thr rut seems to have started but it was not heavy on two weeks ago. The bucks were chasin the does but no hook ups from my observations.

I've seen some nice Great Horned Lop eared goats including a ten pointer that came to 15 yards distance of my treestand and after checking his scrape turned and headed back into the swamp. Needless to say the adrenaline rushing through my bones made just his prescence worth the watch.

I have some high density brush behind my stand I use for cover. With a bow I couldn't shoot down to his scrape but hopefully with the weather coming in he won't start the migration before I have a chance to bring home the bacon so to speak.

However a lot can happen in two weeks. Hopefully there is a good moon phase starting the rut here now and we'll have some dumb bucks runnin wild.

Rut seems to have taken a slow start up here this year.... its been kind of touch and go but seems to have been picking up the last week pretty well. The strange weather didn't help much, so hopefully the weather will cooperate into a good deer season with a few bucks runnin around!

I am here in Marquette, the rut has just started here. I hunt and scout hard and I didn't see any rubs or scrapes until a week and a half ago, but the hunt last night showed some real signs of rut. I think it is timed just right for rifle season. I am not so sure about the northern lower where I rifle hunt though, I think it peaked this wek there.
