Hey everyone. Since I go to the river a lot, I guess I would just make a section for me this season. So here is my first report.


3/22
Went to the clinton today. 0/1 maybe. Hook something and it went the other way. Saw 1 steelie try to jump the dam. Heard other's were trying. Only saw 1 sucker caught. Heard it was dead today, but the bite was on yesterday. I dunno about everyone, but I think I am going to give it a week.

Hey Stelman..

As a would be beginner steelhead fisherman...that really hasn't had much experience with the rivers around here that much..where are a few spots to try on the Clinton? I've heard around the Paint Creek area but that's all I've heard of. Any suggestions? Any help is greatly appreciated.

No fish landed....but hook ups!!!! Had a few on bottom drift fishing and, eggs and caddis seemed best! I was fishing the deeper pools and the runs, some pocket water but not too much. Deep pools with rifles worked the best, as kingsalmon32(my cuz) had one on that ran upstream 30 yds. and then lost it. I think his rod was too high, but we all make mistakes! Especially in steelie fishing you have to keep that rod low, as I learned at the PM. Well get out there and catch them while there on the run! Email me if wanted!

Rode my bike 7 mile's up to yates. Fished bakck back. went 2 for 8 on different kind's of fish. The one's I did catch were sucker's. I think 4 of the other's were sucker's to but I have no idea. The other one was coming up to jump so I assume it was a steelies. The other fish was just runnin all over the river. I assume that was a walleye. Heard a few walleye were caught last weekend. Then I guess steelies were being caught all week. Looking good for the outting...heard of 4 other fish hooled but none caught

Went out today and got absolutly nothin. Skunked:(. Heard a guy got 4 eye's soposely and they were spawning but I didn't seee anything. I dunno where all the fish went. I guess the bite was on fri and not yesterday. Good luck if anyone get's out and I am looking forward to the outting..

I think it is the 13th but got out today. Fished from 4:30 to 8:30. Went to the dam and didn't see any trying. Hooked a sucker right away. 15 inches. Then went 2 hoour's with nothing. Then they really started to hit. Hook 3 fish in less then 30 min's one including a master angler sucker. The thing was huge. Hook 2 other's that were small. Today I went 6 for 12. Thoguht i twould be horrible. Through about 20 buck's worht of flies in the river. Great day to be out. Where though are the fish though. Didn't here of any eyes or steelies caught. Was i the only one. Hell, i only saw like 3 other steelhead fisherman, the rest were sucker fishing!

Got out that day above^.No one was there, Went to the dam. Nothing jumping. Went down to my "honeyhole." Hooked a fish right away. Buit it had spikes and red gill's with a green stripe down the center. Anyone know what this is? Caught 2 resident sucker's and a lake run sucker. Run's are DONE. I'm done with yates and I don't think I am going to fish there untill i start catching steel. I am going to try up north for a while untill i startt catching them i am done with yates. Tired of throwing money into the river and never catching what I am after. NO one else i talked to caught any.

Don't give up! I was doubting whether it was worth
the effort until today. 4 lb hen drifting powerbait spawn.
Not a world beater but worth a 1/2 hr drive, and all
at 2:00 in the afternoon to boot. Beats the heck out of
working. She also dropped a small amount of spawn,
is the run over, or just slow?

I am sorry, but I am done with clinton. Spend to much money with nothin to say but sucker's. I'll try the better river's for awhile till i get them
