Gonna try around 9mile. Hope the rains aren't too dampening. Anyone else going out?

Shad,
I was pheasant hunting up near Peck with guys and gals from the site on Sunday. We talked about how miserable it'd be sitting in a boat in all that rain.

Did you go out and how'd you do?

Good job IT! I went yesterday and worked my behind off for 40 fish. For me, this has been the toughest year in the last decade. I just haven't had the consistantcy that I have had in past years. I think those damn ice fisherman raped the lake with all that good ice they had last winter! ;) ;)

Mike, I shiver at the thought but more than likely I'll be out there a few times, sitting on my bucket and grumbling about how difficult it is to make moves without a boat. :)

Didn't get out until 3pm. Talked to some guys coming in who said they did good at GPYC. The fog was thick, couldn't see more than 20-30yds. Took 45min. to get there from 11mile. I landed 2 13in. perch right off the get go. We trolled around with mw bow mount just to get a drift. Seemed the fish wanted the bait moving. Made a few casts with a 1/4 ounce tube jig and caught 4 more. Then I hear a guy start his engine, they were probably only 100yds. away. They kicked in the ass heading straight for us. Thank God my buddy had on a yellow parka. another 5sec. and i was jumping. What a F$#^*(%#n ass^$#^!!!!!! After all the excitement, darkness came quick. Went to start up and everthing went dead. After fooling around a 1/2hr. it was only a loose connection. The Coast Gaurd showed up just minutes later. They were looking for a boat that became disorientated in the fog. I told them we would help search awhile. I don't know if they were ever found. We looked for a 1/2 hr. or better. It took almost 1hr. to go 5 miles. What a night. Now i know why my wife doesn't go fishing with me. Then again, maybe it's a good thing. Deer hunting , here I come!!!!!

Man, that fog was something else. I think radar may be the next item of my list of necessities. I was 17 miles out when it rolled in. I was a nervous wreck running back across the lake. My eyes were starting to play tricks on me as I kept thinking I was seeing shapes in the fog. Thank goodness for GPS units!

John,
I was out there with George on Saturday. We heard your call on the radio and responded, but you did not hear us.

With all the places we went to and water we covered I was "lost" out there with NO fog. I can't imagine what it'd be like in a pea souper.

Ice fish that lake? I'd wonder about being that far out from shore............LOL!

Get yourself a good snowsuit, good boots, and there's no shivering involved, sweating maybe, while yer walkin. Those fat yellow bellies can be caught close to shore most of the winter, in canals even.

Down at GPYC, arrived a little late in the day about 3 PM and fished till dark. Managed 20 percha nd abonus walleye. May get out 1 more time before the boat goes in the garage for the year.
