Is anyone fishin for perch on lsc now or is all the perch action on the detroit river and lake erie?

I am considering making a trip down this sunday but have never been on lsc and dont know much about it. I will try to pick up a hot spots map if I decide to make the trip.

Anyone help me out with what boat launch to use and a baitshop? A place to start fishing would be great too.

This is one of the best times of the year for perch on the lake. Right now on the American side the area around 14 & 15 mile Rds. and out in front of 9mile to the Grosse Point Yatch Club. Find the weeds and You fiund the perch.

I usually fish the Canadian side of the lake but there are plenty of fish on the U.S. side also. Try the weed beds in 12 – 14 fow between the Grosse Point Yacht Club and 12 mile road. I’ve heard some guys use small tube jigs but I prefer minnows (Emerald shiners if you can find them). If you have mudder (mushroom) anchors, make sure to bring them. Don’t sit in an unproductive spot for long. Keep moving till you locate a school. As Dann09 said, locate the weed beds and the Perch should be close by.
There is a ramp a few blocks south of Crocker Rd. but there is not much water there. Maybe someone that has launched there recently can comment. There is plenty of water at the ramp that is at the end of South River Rd. (Harley Ensign) but it’s a bit of a run to the 12 mile road area. Also if you launch there, stay a ways off Huron Point (foot of 16 mile road) because it’s quite shallow off the point. I’ll be out there Sunday but I’ll be on the Canadian side off the Johnson. Good luck!

I have been launching from the new DNR lauch. It is shallow but my 18.5 lund goes in fine and I have seen much bigger and heavier boats go in there. I would get bait at 16 and Jefferson as they are generous. The guy at the Crocker boat launch is counting every minnow. At $3.00 per dozen you need to pick your bait shop. I will be there both mornings wind permitting.

I agree with IT Pimp, launched from the crocker launch yesterday in a 17' Tracker Targa. Be sure to trim it up fellas, as there really isn't that much water there. saw a guy with an I/O that didn't trim it up bury his outdrive in the mud and get stuck. like way stuck. anyways, yesterday for say 5 hours of fishing, me and Fishtales took about 15 nice perch (mostly his), and two nice walleye (both mine). I lost another fish that I think was a walleye, and he also caught a very large smallmouth. I got it on a normal camera, just waiting for the next fish outing to fill up the roll of film. I also got some other pics of the perch that we've been taking out there. Guessing I'd say we were about 2.5 miles off shore off of 9 Mile for those fish. It was a little jog from the crocker launch, especially in the morning it was rockin and rolling. Trying to find some cleaner water is proving to be a little difficult.

nuts, if you do make the trip, heres some directions.....
there might be a little better way, but this is how I got home when coming from MSU.

Find a way to 96E. From Ovid you can take 127S to 96E or if you know a better way, by all means take it. Take 96E to 696E (basically the highway splits near Telegraph Road, just stay in the left two lanes to get on 696). Take 696E all the way to Groesbeck Rd exit, take the exit and turn North (left) on Groesbeck. Follow this north to 16 Mile Rd (Metro Parkway). take a right there, and take this all the way to Jefferson Rd. Take a right on Jefferson, just a wee bit south on the east side of the road there is a party store/bait shop. Get your minnows there, the bait shop is known to give good counts and have decent minnows. The bait shop door is to the left of the store.

Continue going south on Jefferson. Take this just past the Crocker and Jefferson intersection. the launch will be on the left hand-side (east) side of the road, ya can't miss it.

The construction is finally done on I-94, so you can take I- 696 east to I-94 east to Metropolitan Parkway east to Jefferson.

Esox, I wasn't sure if it was or not, so I didn't put it on there.

I understand. That project took forever and a day to complete. I still cant see any improvement to the road either.

Well with 15mph winds, max. on both days it looks like I will be out there. Lets see just how good the marine forcast is. Good luck to everyone, I will be in the blue Lund, reeling in the doubles.

Nuts,
Since you're not far from where I live, instead of leaving the Lansing area the way MSUICEMAN said (nothing against you ICEMAN!), just get on I-69 to flint, then head down I-75. I go to the northern Detroit area quite a bit, and from our area it's actually quicker time wise to take I-69 to Flint, then down I-75, then to get on I-96 on the south side of Lansing and go over. Just my two cents.

has anyone travelled north and south I-75 for that stretch yet? For some reason i thought there was construction going on. also, is the I69 construction over in flint yet?

You are good to go on 69 here in Flint. It's ok on 75 going north also. I think it's ok going south on 75 from Flint. Good luck.

Here is a link to ongoing construction information:

http://www.mdot.state.mi.us/projects/projinfo.htm

Only problem is it is never a complete list. I-75 is down to two lanes NB and SB from 8 mile to Davison. (About halfway to I-94)

The interchange from NB and SB I-75 to EB I-94 is closed indefinenetly.
