Yeah I know! I'm going down to the repair shop to look at it first hand. Only probelm is even if its Merc's faulty part, it only has a two year warrenty from Merc. If it does appear to be a factory defect that lead to this problem, It will be the last Merc I ever buy!

The real kicker is.... without my boat, my duck season has just gone to hell in a hand basket!
anyone want to buy decoys, fast grass and a robo duck?:(
At least I can still goose hunt and try to find some fields the ducks are using.

Hey Tonga!!

I got a 6hp evinrude, not sure the year. It has one of those combo choke/primer on it. Lately the choke has become hard to pull out and tonite, it popped the hose off the top of it. The hose goes to the carb. Once the hose came off, it worked easily. Plugged carb?? It runs great and used to start with one pull when the plunger (choke) worked. Any ideas??

not sure exactly the one you have but it should not be a big problem to pull apart and clean up with a little carb cleaner,,if it's the one I think it is, the little primer port is probably just plugged so when you have the hose on it you will have a locked chamber and it will be very hard to compress,,kinda like your primer bulb on your hose on the tank,,you know once your carb is full it will get very hard,,,so I think if you clean her up and don't mess with the needle on the carb you will be good to go
