anyone else hunt schoolcraft county? it seems like in our area that the deer numbers are going down. i know the wolves are in are area :( and there seems to be alot of poaching know and we heard a rumer that the indians are hunting the area at will. anyone else have some thoughts??

I hunt Northern Schoolcraft Co. and the hunting last season was one of the worst ones I have seen. I know the locals do kill alot of deer all year around. We have had a couple of bucks with .22 slugs in them. What really affects the herd though is the harsh winters. I predict this season will be better than last, hopefully.

That's not what I wanted to here. Have my first UP trip planned this year. My one buddy went last year in Manistique and seen 38 does in a five day hunt no doe permit though, and almost everyone in the group got a deer, biggest being a 6pt. I believe numbers should be up slightly due to last year's easy winter.

Been hunting northern schoolcraft for years. haven't seen one deer there in the last 2 seasons. buddy took a doe last year, only one we seen last year. opps sorry another buddy came up thanksgiving and got a 3 point.

the area we hunt has become HEAVILY hunted the last 4yrs. one new cabin brought 12 people for opening week, and they walk the road until they find a trail and walk into your stand/blind.

My family used to have a cabin in Schoolcraft county right by the Fox River, but has since sold it. Ever year that i hunted there, it was always poor compared to lower Michigan. I'm pretty sure i can count the number of bucks i saw over five or six years on one hand. One thing is for sure, the hunting may have sucked, but it was one of the greatest feelings in the world to get out of lower michigan and go to deer camp.

We Hunt Around the Sandtown Rd. Area. And have not been seeing buck there either. Seen I think around 8 Does Last year.
on my week off.
I would have to agree that the numbers are going down up there.

First time going to the UP. Is the 121 area in Schoolcraft County?

about 10 % of it is most of it is in delta county
