We have seen fewer deer in the last 5-6 days than we ever have. I don't expect to see much when its this warm but this is the longest dry spell we have had in the five years hunting this property. We have tried the swamp, corn edges and staging areas but have only seen a couple of deer between my dad and myself. I saw 8 different bucks opening day but it has went downhill since. I don't know if it is the hot weather or the full moon but they don't seem to be moving during shooting time. Hopefully we will have a big cool down next week and things will start to heat up. GOOD LUCK!!!!

The beasts are out and about just have patients. I saw a 10 and 3 antlerless so far. All bedded down where I couldn't shoot. 35 yards behind me where I left many a branch to give added cover to myself . :( They also left before I moved out of my stand so I don't think I spooked them out. Now comes the I could just kick myself for not dropping those branches phase of my hunting season.

Full moon, hot weather, mid-October.... a triple negative for deer hunting. Best time of all to give your woods a rest and go do something else.
Stay home, practice your shooting, get some chores done, take your wife/girlfriend to the cider mill, or do a little squirrel hunting.
Hopefully, the thermometer will nosedive just before Halloween, and then the fun starts!

Both. They will be moving this week with the cooler temps, I hope.

I hear ya! I was up north this weekend and saw a total of 3 deer. Between 3 of us we saw 6 deer over 10 hunts. It was nice getting out, though. It's the first time I've hunted wearing shorts and t-shirt under my camo's.
It should start to cool down now though. I was at the processor yesterday and they have seen a big slow down too over the last week. They we're ok with it though it gave them time to catch up. The have already taken in 175 deer for this year.
