Homemade seasoning salt

Since I use it a lot, I generally make up a 6lb batch at a time 4 or 5 times each year.

In a large jar, mix:

4 lbs salt
2 lbs white sugar
8 oz mixed pickling spices (ground in a blender till powdered)
7 oz bacon bits (get real ones - the have better flavor again, grind them in a blender till powdered.)
8 T (tablespoons) garlic powder
6 T Taco Seasoning
4 T onion powder
2 T Curry powder. (Curry is a strong flavor that can easily overpower all else. In smaller quantities it has the effect of blending the other flavors.)

Mix this stuff well - shake the bottle or roll it on the floor. Then let it stand for a week (with daily vigerous shaking) to allow the flavors to blend.

Some times, around the holiday season, a few more cloves in the mixture is good. You can vary the spices - experiment and customize to suit your taste.

Let me know how it turns out

Is this recipe just for fish or can I use it in other cooking?

Bigcountrie1,

I use this as a basic seasoning - it is good when sprinkled on meats, vegies, fish, eggs - also use it for brines.
