While I enjoy the conversation with other anglers, it's getting a bit crowded at Huroc. Living the wild and crazy life of a college student endows me with the ability to stay up all hours of the night. Would I do well to try Flat Rock at night? Are the cops quick to throw out/ticket late night anglers? The only fish I have seen jump the coffer were salmon, at about 9pm back in October. I'm wondering if, given that the water temp. is right, steelies stay active at night. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When I was a student at EMU I spent many a late nights fishing in Flat Rock. I wasn't very successful but I was just learning then.
The city of Flat Rock began enforcing the park curfew because people (not real fisherman) were getting drunk all night, trashing the park and fighting. You can still be in the park until 11pm. Also if you get there alittle before 6 am they usually don't mess with you. I have had my best fishing there getting to my spot before daylight. It seems that as soon as the sun comes up the fish get real active. The activity either continues or dies out an hour after sun up depending on the weather.
I called Flat Rock PD once and was told that as long as there wasn't a problem the police wouldn't mess with you, but I wouldn't count on it. I saw the locals PD show up down there the other day and walk along the river but it was cold and only about 10 of us down there so they left. And that was in the middle of the day.
If you want to fish at night nothing can stop you from doing it outside of the park. On the road side of the park the property line for the park is the chain link fence. Go back behind the new bait shop and you will be out of the park and should be legal.
Again, check with the PD before trying this though.
