Folks ..... I'm now in the market to buy a set (1 pair) of this type of radios. I know little about them. A good friend suggested stickin' with Motorola because parts & service are more readily available.

OK, sounds reasonable. So, if I stick with just Motorola.... then what is the difference in models.

What should I be looking for in terms of features? in talk range? in price range?

Appreciate any response.

See http://www.michigan-sportsman.com/productreviews/gmrs_radios.htm

Look for removable antennas, so you can put on bigger and better ones. Look for power output. And remember GMRS radios require a FCC license.

Get one with a vibration option so that if your buddy "calls" you it doesn't make a ringing or beeping noise that a deer can hear.

Yeah I like the pager like vibration feature as well but unfortunately the vibrate feature is not compatible amoung all radios.

motorolas have always seemed like the best option. i know people with other brands that seem to have problems that i don't as far as reception. also they are invaluable when hunting with younger or older hunters that you need to keep better track of.
