I'm putting together a new hunting video for Rod Benson Game Calls.
Living somewhat close to Montcalm Co. would be a plus.
Anyone that would like to be filmed arrowing a deer give me a shout. Buck or doe, all footage is good footage.

Maybe we could make a rabbit hunting video this winter?

Funny you mention that. We just filmed a segment for Michigan Out Of Doors on deer calling tips and tricks and it was mentioned about filming a rabbit hunt this winter. I was going to get ahold of ya, you game?

That would be a great time.

I'm in.

Any week end after Deer season.

Of course we might have to tell the street sweeper to only load 2 rounds at a time:D

If you'd want a 16 year old kid out there with you i might be game. I live in Ionia, so not too far. I'm making my own homemade video this year, and might be able to take some pointers also. I'd be very interested!! Sound lik fun!

Did someone say " you wanna be on camera"? Never let that one pass you by. Bow hunting greenhorn here, been shooting for a couple years but this will be my first year bowhunting. This may be your one and only chance to get a true virgin on film.;)

Sign me up! I do most of my deer hunting in Northern Kent County.

Matter of fact, I am researching what it takes to start my own outdoor production company. Base it strictly in Michigan, but nothing like Michigan Outdoors or Practical Sportsman.

More info to come later.

Where will this filming take place? On your land, my land, or whos? You know I am always game for an adventure of any sorts. Give me the specs and let me know!!

I would love to see a rabbit hunting video. So far I have only seen one. I found it at the library. It was OK. I love to hear a beagle run a rabbit. Maybe I should take my camera with me sometime with my dog.

I had Buck Levasaur Film me for his outdoor show on CBS(I think) up here in the U.P. a couple of years ago. He filmed me shooting my bow and talking about the upcoming tournament season, as well as about 5 hours of rabbit hunting. He told me that it was extremely hard to get on-camera kills while rabbit hunting, let alone getting the rabbit on film, but we managed 2 on-camera kills, and some misses. I spend anywhere from 50-70 times in the winter running my dogs, and carry a gun from 0 to 2 or 3 times. Funny thing, I found when you shoot the rabbits, you can't run them anymore, and it only takes a couple trips to completely eliminate all the rabbits from an area....so I don't shoot them. Getting to know the dogs and rabbits in the area, we were able to set up on some highly reliable areas to film, and had a great time. I got a young kid from church to come out and be the shooter. Lots of fun. Amazing how he turned all of those hours of hunting into about a 15 Min. show! It gave me a great appreciation for anybody who succussfully films not only a rabbit hunt, but any hunt for that matter.

Good Luck!

I'd like to hear the details. I'm in Newaygo county, about a mile from Montcalm, so I guess I fit in your distance requirement. It sounds fun.

We would love to invite you to our hunting camp if you are willing to make the trip up to Missaukee County. We have many stands set up and some would be great for a hunter and a camera man. Let me know... we will be hunting the 4th-6th and again 24th-26th.

If you would like to make the trip down to SE MI where we hunt the big-dogs, we would welcome you there also! My cousin took an 8-pointer that scored in the 150's B&C last year where we are hunting. Have already seen an 11-pointer this year that would make that one look small, oh yeah, and he was with 3 other bucks all standing out in the hay field.

Getting Geeked Up!!!

Hey when were you looking to shoot the video? Myself and My friend just shot our first kill this past weekend with my cousin so we have a little experience. I'd love to do it but i live kind of far away. But maybe....

Sure..if your still lookin'.

I can't figure out why you'd wanna film me fall asleep, fall from my tree, hang from my harness, kick and scream and than say "to hell with it" and fall back asleep while dangling there though??:D
But hey...if that sounds entertaining I'm your man:p

What part of Montcalm county are you in? I went to high school in Stanton and hunted in that area for many years. I ran out of hunting spots as all my friends and family moved out of the area. I would be interested if you had a spot that I could hunt. I now live in the southeast part of the state, but would make the drive.

Again, Thanks a bunch for all the responses ! I'm a bit overwhelmed LOL. I plan on shooting the video a bit closer to the rut, probably starting around Oct. 20th give or take.
Thanks for all the invites to the deer camps, I will get back with all you guys.

Obviously I can't film everyone, tho I'd like to. When it comes time, I'll PM you all and see what schedules will click.

I'll also keep everyone on file cause we'll be shooting goose hunts, turkey hunts and probably a deer gun hunt or two.

Thanks again :)
