I finally got a digi camera so I can post pics in a more timely manner. Another bonus is I can take pics off my game camera and store them, as the flash card and software is way too expensive. These are pics of the images on my tv and then downsized to fit here so they are quite rough.
This is a fork horn

This is a wierd one that has a knot on the end, he is a young deer but might need taken out of the herd ;)

This is the guy I'm looking for. The belly sags, nice length on the antler (doesn't fit in the pic), I'm sure he's a mature deer.

That third one is a mature buck - thats the target. Keep the pictures coming....

It might just be the shadows and pic quality, but to me that looks like a abscess on his belly the way it curves up so sharply in the rear. Riverman

#3 definately
#2 if indeed he had that ball on the end. I would hope that Scarlet or my nephew could get him but the third time I had the opportunity, I'd take him out.
#1 is Scarlet's deer
#1 & #2 are under Scarlet's stand. There has been two different fork horns I got pics of under there.
She'll probably end up getting #3, but that's okay with me! :)
Freepop,
What kind of Cam set-up do you have?

Game-Vu digital. It has alot of short comings. There are a couple advantages though. Basically something to occupy my time.

Man those things are addictive. I have had mine out for two weeks and I think I will leave it there until start of the season, then I will check it after an AM hunt. Maybe even opening day.
Good luck on getting the bigger buck!

I just got the Non-Typical Cuddeback digital scouting camera yesterday. Learned how to use it last night, and set it on a trail behind the house. I swapped out the Smartmedia card this morning, and already had 4 pics and 10 events. Here's the first official deer pic off this camera. (I know it's huge, but I wanted to show some of the detail!)

One of the best things about this camera is the security it offers. There is a programmable password you set to unlock the camera, and another to access the owner controls. No one can use the camera without these passwords. As you can see in the picture, you can program your name as the owner, and it appears on every photo. It also stamps the exact date and time of each picture.
The camera also records events, which can be saved to the card in ASCII comma delimited text format, which can be loaded into any spreadsheet software. I'm playing around with different ways to graph the data so it is useful in tracking time-of-day movements.
Learning to use the camera is not all that difficult, it has great features, some of which no other digital game camera offers, and the picture quality is excellent. No more one-hour developing, no more buying film, I can record still photos and videos at the same time...can you tell I'm excited about this camera? :D
If you can afford the $500 upfront investment, this camera is the one to have! Bass Pro and Cabela's both carry it, online and catalog at least.
BTW, my homeowner's (renter's) insurance is covering this camera as a rider to my policy for $4.00 per $1000 coverage per year, with no deductible. Look into this coverage with your policy.
I'll keep posting more results. Here's a link to the Cuddeback site. (www.cuddebackdigital.com)

That's what I'm hoping for. The gut on that by tells me he's the one I'll target. I hope I get a better pic of his rack before I wack :D
Byron, one problem, if people know they can't steal it, sometimes they just destroy it. Look what they did to Wild Bill's cameras.
Does that Cuddle use a flash?

Freepop,
There's nothing you can do to stop that. That's why I have insurance! I haven't heard of destruction being all that common, though. I am also considering putting a note on the camera saying something like:
"This camera is part of a research project. Please do not disturb. The camera is password protected, and is unusable to anyone but the researcher. Thanks for your understanding."
Couldn't hurt.
Yes, the Cuddeback has a flash built in for still photos. They are coming out with an auxiliary light unit for night videos next year.
Best Regards,
