Torvo,
I have used a honey glaze on Salmon prior to grilling with excellent results. Next time I will try the maple syrup. Thanks for the tip.

I found this recipe for using Maple Syrup. The results are excellent.
For this recipe you will need to make the following marinade:
1/3 cup pure maple syrup
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/3 cup white wine
1 teaspoon sesame seed oil
3 tablespoons soya sauce
2 scallions - minced
1 teaspoon fresh ginger root - minced
2 cloves garlic - minced
black pepper to taste.
Procedure:
Mix all ingredients.
Immerse 2 salmon filets in marinade (a ziplock bag works well).
Place in the refrigerator and marinate for 3 hours.
Grill on medium heat for 6 to 10 minutes on each side (depending on the thickness of the filets) or until meat flakes easily, - basting each side with marinade. (I also added some apple wood chips to the grill for a sweet & smokey flavor.) The results are delicious.
