Well it finally happened the other day I took the day off work and winterized then shrink rapped my boat. Years past I always waited until the middle of October but this year I wanted to do it when it’s still warm outside. I’m sure glad that’s all done and over with. It usually takes myself about 3 ½ hours from start to finish.;)

Wow, just a bit early IMHO. Fall is the best time of year to fish. I usually wait till the boat sits on top of the hard water.

I’m sure glad that’s all done and over with It's not over til the ice keeps filling up the guides. (and i'm working on a fix for that!)

Way too much fishing left to do this year before putting the boat away, maybe around December or janruary, then get it out in March lol

Man I have to agree! I'll be jigging walleyes on the Saginaw 'till I can't physically spud an open path to the open water....Patch

My pull date is Dec. 15th. Last year my canal froze on the 17th, but thawed out and re-froze a week later. That's the closest I've ever come to being locked in. Fishing 'til that time of year is tough,
but I can't help it!

Lawnboy ~ I'm gonna be the same way as you when I get a boat, unless it's a duck boat it WILL be put away by Sept. 15th. Hunting season holds me over till the ice comes.:)

Wow, work is just starting to slow down and my fishing season is just starting!! I'll have my boat out till the ice stops me. Nothing like late season perch fishing!

What are you guys nut’s I’m not done yet that was only one of the four boats that I own. The one that I winterized was the family’s craft. I still have my 14’ fishing/duck boat going strong.:p

I remember one year I had a vacation to go deer hunting, opening day was a monday and I planned on taking my boat out on sat the 13th, well thursday morning the place called and asked if I was taking my boat out, I said my plan was to come down sat morning, he said we have about an inch of ice in the canal. Needless to say, i went down and had to break ice all the way to the main part of the river. Last one out and first one back in come springtime.

Way way too early! How you gonna hunt? How you gonna catch all those perch by the crossdike? Its up to you but I dont even winterize till january. I see your from downriver, and in my opinion you did it too early. Once all the big boats get pulled and the boat traffic goes down, it will be some of the calmest water and best fishing you have had all year.
