I have an apointment monday after work.
Its with my 22 month old son. He will be going into the backpack ( with hunters orange on it) We are packing some snacks and sandwiches for dinner and making an evening of it. Going to use my 22 and go to my old stomping grounds.
My wife is planning a slow evening of naping on and off after work in a silent house.
Its a win win.
:D

I plan to get out for the first day of small game season here in the eastern U.P. Wish we had Fox Squirrels like you folks down south have, I used to hunt them at my grandfathers place southwest of Mt Pleasant when I was a kid. We do have grays and black though. Seems to be a good year up here for partridge and for the first time in years we can hunt them in Dec like the lower peninsula does. Should be able to get some put aside in the freezer. Hope everyone has a safe and sucessfull first day of small game season,
Walt

wow i guess its hard for me to comprehend. all i have to hunt are fox squirrels. i think ive seen one gray squirrel in my usual hunting woods. when i make it into lansing for work all i see are the black ones with an occasional fox. lol saw a fox yesterday with no tail in williamston lol:D

Would like to go...but....will be up north fishing for a week. Plus, I only have to drive maybe 30min from home. Have a choice, either behind my buddie's place, or go to his boss's propertie, where you see a squirrel about every minute. Black, Fox, Gray, and some are a mixed breed. I am not big on hunting squirrel's, but when they are all cleaned and cooked.......TASTY

GOOD LUCK & BE SAFE OUT THEIR

Last year was my rebirth in squirrel hunting, when I took my 12 year old daughter hunting. Her first time out she got a hat trick. 1 fox, 1 gray, and 1 black. This year I'm taking the day off. I will hunt Grouse in the morning. I will pick up my daughter from school in the after noon to squirrel hunt. Honestly I can't wait for the squirrel hunt with my daughter.

Unfortunatley, I will be stuck at MSU until the 19th, then as soon as I finish class on friday, I am gone to Roscommon to hunt both squirrels, and Hopefully a grouse or two. The birds don't seem to be in great numbers, but maybe one will decide to cross paths with me. Good luck to all that make it out today.

I have a woods right behind the house slam full of the, little tasties.

I won't waste a day off work, but evenings and Saturday are a sure bet. (By waste I mean use it instead of another hunting trip)

I haven't shot cleaned or cooked any in quite a while be a year or two ago, part of the family had a wild game cookout in the winter and someone brought some. cooked up like fried chicken in small pieces.

Squirell nuggets mmmmmmmm!
