A woman my wife works with is getting divorced. Her husband has a Lund boat he paid over 30K for two summers ago. Sounds like he's used it less than 10 times.
The woman is getting me details on it, but I think it's a sportsman series. To be over 30K I'm assuming it's got one heck of an outboard on it and just about every option they offer.
Sounds like they're just hoping to pay the loan off on it, around $16K. Not having the details, does this sound like something I should look into? Can any three year old boat be worth that much? I know with a vehicle that you don't get your money's worth out of all those options if you add them in and resell.
My first thought is that it might be a good investment or just a good boat for me. I could always buy it now, re-sell in the spring after using it a few times. Otherwise put someone from the site onto a honey of a boat. I'll post more details when I have them.

oh yea,,a 3 year old boat can be worth that and more,,,the only thing I will tell you is you should never buy a boat just to sell it!
you should buy a boat because you want to ave it! I say this because there are a lot boats for sale,,,in fact I don't think I have ever seen one that was not for sale! really just ask any boat owner and I bet you can find a price that will seperate him from his boat!

TONGA, for the right price most men would be willing to part with their wives too. :D

Beave,
I did a search on boattraderonline.com (indirectly this led to the purchase of my Lund) and found some info.
$17,300 1999 LUND 2025 PRO V MAGNUM CS 20' 6'' 225 MERCURY OPTIMAX
$16,500 2000 LUND 18FT FISHERMAN, 2000 115 HP EVENRUDE FICHT
$17,900 2002 LUND 1700 FISHERMAN , F115, YAMAHA 4STK
Not sure the specs on the boat you are looking at, but if the boat or motor are bigger than those listed above, I would say it's a pretty good deal, assuming the boat is in mint condition and everything works flawlessly.
I would be interested to know the details (motor, accessories, etc.) on the boat in question, just out of curiosity.

Here are some more listing, this time from http://www.walleye.com/boatads.htm
02 17' Mr Pike 115 Yamaha 4strk $16,000
99 18.5' Tyee 4.3 Merc $21,000
98 1650 Angler 75 Merc $7,900
00 1600 Pro Sport 60 Merc $16,900
96 1890 Pro V LE 150 Johnson $21,900
01 20' Alaskan 90 Evinrude $15,500
So it seems plausible the boat Beave is looking at is priced right, if it is in pristine condition with good accessories.
I'm partial to the full windshield models, since that's what I have, but I think you can objectively argue that there is more protection from wind and spray vs. side or dual console models. This fishing season I have had a lot of spray come over the bow which would have soaked me if I didn't have a full windshield.
The Lund website shows that the 2025 Pro V comes in a full walkthrough windshield version, didn't know that.

That reminds me of a story I understand it's true.
I guy left his wife for another woman and moved to Las Vegus. He told her he wanted a divorce. Then he told her to sell his new Corvette, split the money and send him half. She sold it, sent him $1. and said "I kept the other dollar."

That's a popular urban legend with some truth behind it Michigan Hunter. The model of the car and all change a lot, but I'm under the impression it did actually happen at one point.
I'll have more info on the boat tomorrow. The wife will get it from the woman she works with. Women, don't even know more than the brand name of a boat they paid $30K for.

For $30G's it's probably a Pro-V. Those suckers are expenive. If it is and you don't want it, let me know I would be VERY interested.

If it says LUND, you can bet it's expensive,,,,,I have first hand knowledge on this subject....;) hard to say what model it could be but, if this boat that Kroppe list is in good shape I'd be willing to have another...lol
$17,300 1999 LUND 2025 PRO V MAGNUM CS 20' 6'' 225 MERCURY OPTIMAX
The Lund you speak of with the full windshield is the Pro V "IFS",
integrade fishing system, Tom(MI), a member of this site has a 2003 Pro V 2025 with the IFS and a 250 yammi with a T-8 kicker, you can see mine in the avatar, when I seen his rig I drooled all over it:D Sorry Tom, if you would like me to clean it pick me up on the way to the lake and I'd be very happy to.....;)

I'll let you guys khon the details as soon as I get them from my wife. I'm honestly getting a little pissed at her about it. The co-worker only works 2 days a week in that office and is off-site the other three days. I've reminded my wife every day to ask about it and she keeps forgetting to ask and making lame excuses. Women are dumb like that sometimes. I think she's afraid of asking because it's a sensitive subject, but this is a co-worker who originally approached my wife asking if I'd be interested in her husband's boat.
We missed out on the pool table because my wife "didn't want to offend" the woman so a different co-worker got a $4000 pool table for $1000. Sigh...

Beave,
Why don't you take the initiative to call the office and talk to her yourself. Ask your wife what two days she is there, if it changes all the time, call once a day to find out when she is there. Then you have no reason to be po'd at anyone except yourself, and you will get the info you want first hand.
