I own a 1996 SeaNymph BT165 w/ a Johnson 25 HP. The other night up at Houghton Lake I had 4 people in the boat that as near as I can guess had the boat maxed out in weight (700 lbs). I could just barely get the boat up on plane at full throttle and was making only 10-11 mph as shown on my Humminbird.

The setup on the boat has 2 batteries & the gas tank in the back of the boat and the outboard is set on the deepest setting to keep the bow down. It seems to work ok with just 2 people in the boat.

Should I leave the setup alone or could I enhance the performance by any of these ideas:

- add a hydrofoil?
- change the pitch of my prop?

Thanks for any suggestions

I put one on my 40 HP. It helped alot with porpoising, and a little getting out of the hole, but I lost about 3-4 MPH on top end.
I think you just had a very large load for a 25HP.
