Arrow Making, Help!!!!

I am hoping somebody would help me with a ? about arrow making.

I am new to this and my ? is:

I would like to know if there is a stain and a finish I could purchase at my local hardware store that will still allow me to use Fletch-Tite Glue. I am using Cedar Shafting. Or you could let me know what best works for you as far as stain, finish and glue are concerned. I will be fletching with a Blitzenbuger Dial-o-Fletch.

I wont be doing any fancy cresting for now. I am just wanting to make some practice arrows.

Thanks, Ray

Ray Lacquer is a good finish, it dries fast and the fletch tite will glue to it well. the fletch tite will glue almost to any thing, leave the feathers in the clamp for a min of 20 min. leave them dry over night before doing any thing with them. I have used it over lacquer and oil based paint, it worked well on both, made a few thousand in many combos of finish, if you are just making practice arrows just stain them or not, they are cedar they don't rot or adsorb much moisture
