Anyone know where I can check out the aluminum cabins that I see on the river boats while steelhead fishing? I have a 16' flat bottom and have been thinking about putting one of those cabins on it. I even think more about it when freezin' and sucking on rod eyeletts to get the ice out of them. Info on cost would be appreciated also. Located in Battle Creek.

Take care out there... good fishing

No idea on what you're asking about, but a more efficient way to clear ice from your eyes is to simply dip your rod in the water for a few seconds. My neighbor showed me this last year (we were fishing when it was 23 degrees according to the thermometer on his truck) and it worked wonderful.

I probably did not make myself clear...... The river boats on the
St. Joe have what looks like a pickup truck cap thats on steroids.
It's tall and fits on the gunnels of the boat with a back door facing the back of the boat which enables you to get to your rods while trailing plugs out the back. Looks like they are made of square aluminum tubing with plexiglass/aluminum sheeting as the covering. It provides a shelter while winter steelheading.
I think Emil Dean started the covered river boats a long time ago.

Contact Jason Phillips at Riverman Boats in Clare. He can construct just about anything you want out of aluminum. Don't have the number off hand, but rivermanboats.com is his website.

I have one of them on my boat. It was made over 12 yrs ago, and still works great. Mine was made by the "village smith" in Niles Mich. I do not know if he still makes them there.
