Today I was able to speak to one of my Professional Hunters in South Africa. We went over which hunting gear I would be taking with me. I am bow hunting and taking my Mauser 30.06 rifle.

He explained about the hides and blinds available in his concessions for bowhunting antelope. This is to be a good year as it has been dry which means the animals will frequent the water holes near the blinds.

We also discussed the best type of bullet needed for my rifle. I will take Nosler Partitions, custom reloaded.

When you go to hunt in South Africa you have to hire a guide known as a PH, or Professional Hunter. They go through a training program and then become licensed by the Government to do business as a safari outfitter. The safari industry is carefully regulated so as to provide a safe hunt and to make sure the game remains a viable part of it's range. Conservation practices are very good in South Africa nad many other countries in Africa in order to preserve the wildlife they have. Because the animals are hunted, they are valuable because you pay a fee to hunt. This means for good populations of game that is very endangered in countries where hunting is not allowed.

The suspense is killing me! Are you going by boat? :)
I hope you can get to a computer over there and make some "almost" live post! That would really be neat!
Besides picking out the clothes to wear, ;) whats the hardest part of planning this type of hunt?
I know you can book these hunts as you are an Agent,
so what is the cost of some of the hunts? Maybe I'll head there some day. Now where's that lotto ticket???
