Just read a post where somebody brought up a point.

How many people can hunt on a 40 acre, 80 acre, 120 acre comfortably?

The reason I say this is every body of land is different. On a particular 18 acre parcel I used to hunt (with another member of the forum) we could bow-hunt 5 guys without watching the neighbors property and not interfere too badly with each other. Granted the ajoining property mostly wasn't hunted, this property was a perfect deep valley with a creek at the bottom. The deer all used the bottom land and we positioned ourselves near the top. So everybody saw deer, even different deer. This was one of the heavier deer populated areas of the state with a lot of small deer but it was one of my favorite places to hunt.

I owned 40 acres and had access to the other 40 beside it. I wouldn't have more than two people per 40 acres. Somebody once said one person per 10 acres, but the deer will smell you at the minimum of 40 acres no matter where you are. Bow season might accomodate 3-4 people per 40 but you can't move around. Rifle is definately 1 per 20 acres minimum, and don't walk around.
My neighbor had 3 people on his 10 and one doofus walked right up to me on my 40. I popped up and yelled! he stumbled and said some bs about floating the river earlier and I said yeah, so why you over here?! Told him to get back over by his brother. Thats what state land is for!

I have 147 acres and during bow season I have anywhere from just myself to four hunters. Which all depends on my boys and my Dad on whether or not they go out. Gun season is usually five to six hunters. I could easily support a couple of more but I don't because I don't want it to get crowded and so people can move around and actually hunt.

I hunt on 240 acres in the rifle zone. We usually have 5 or 6 hunting at one time. Anything over six and I start feeling crowded. I know that may seem a little selfish but I like to still hunt. We use radios to stay in touch with each other if we move around. Bow season has never been a problem.

Howdy-

We regularly have 4 on my buddy's 40 in Kingston.

Some years have seen as many as 6.....

Not much of a problem as long as we hunt from blinds and take no shots in the direction of someone else's blind.

It depends on the terrain. My dad has 1,000 acres next to me, but it'll only support 2 or 3 hunters. It's virtually all open farm ground.
