I learned so much while I was in the Scouts. I honestly feel that I'm a better person because of some of the things I learned there.

Are any of our younger members in the Boy Scouts? If you are young enough to join and love the outdoors, this is something you should check out.

Former Patrol Leader of the Cobra Patrol. Troop 775.

Definitely a worthwhile program. Former SPL of troop 1382 checking in. I know it's not always deemed cool by others but you will learn a lot about leadership and yourself that you will take with you the rest of your life.

Oh yeah, Eagle Scout as well. But that or any other patch wasn't the important part.

FIJI, if your mom needs some help kicking let me know :) Scouting has led to SO many things for me, an Eagle Scout being one of them. That is one of the things that I am proudest of! As stated, it wasnt the cool thing to do in high school but once out in the woods in New Mexico, Beaver Island, UP, etc. man that WAS COOL!!!

Another Eagle checking in, I won't say Former, because I believe that once and Eagle, ALWAYS an Eagle. Also a former troop leader for sons troop and cub pack, man...seems I have been involved in Scouting for over 30 years, its a GREAT program, that has taught me more than I can remember...But most of all, how to respect the outdoors.

Not a youngster anymore, but Scouting holds one of my fondest memories. I was with Troop 106 out of Goodison. We preformed Indian Dance around the state and in the Pontiac Centennial, I was an Eagle Scout, and was installed in the Explorers when selected as an Order-of –the Arrow member at Camp Agawam. The fun didn’t stop. As I got older I had the privilege of taking a group of youngsters to Algonquin for two weeks of canoeing and studying nature. I commend those of you that are involved with the scouts. Keep it up. It’s a good thing you do.

I, too, was an Eagle Scout. Yeah, my friends gave me a lot of flack back then but they never understood the friends that I made out of the whole experience and the camping was what made it worthwhile.

I never was a boyscout, partially because I did a lot of that kind of thing with my dad growing up, partially because we were active in church youth activities.

I can tell you though, scouts is definitely a good thing. I have friends I went to school with who came out of some pretty "messed up" family situations. Alcoholic parents, fathers who were never around, etc.

Most kids in those situations don't turn out too well. My two buddies who were scouts though (both hit Eagle), are well-rounded, grounded, morally stout individuals. Knowing their families I know that they didn't get their strong sense of responsibility or moral compass from their parents. They learned those things in scouts.

Another Eagle here, Troop 215 PL and SPL throughout my years in scouts. Philmont in New Mexico and National Scout Jamboree in Virginia are two of my best memories....
