I will preface this by saying this is based off last names, therefore, reps with the same last name or relatives of someone in congress in 2000 could lead to incorrect data.

Only use this as a guide. Thank reps for voting for in the past or question why they voted a certain way in 2000. Let's not give up on anyone. . . Rumor has it there was a lot of vote swapping going on during the lame duck session of 2000. Just because they voted a certain way in 2000 does not mean they will not be swayed a different way this time.

House
By my count 35 house reps voted on the issue in 2000. Two voted on it in the Senate but are now reps in the house. This is how they voted then: That still leaves 2/3 of the house that does not have a voting record on this issue.

Yeas

Bisbee, Bradstreet, Caul, DeRossett, Ehardt, Hager, Hart, Howell, Johnson (rick), Julian, Koetje, Mortimer, Pappageorge, Pumford, Richardville, Rivet, Rocca, Shackleton, Sheltrown, Shulman, Tabor, Voorhees, Van Regenmorter (senate)

Nays

Daniels,Dennis, Gieleghem, Hardman, Jamnick, Johnson(ruth), Law, Middaugh, Minore, O'Neil, Reeves,Wojno, Woodward, Byrum(senate). Byrum was a nay in the senate that surprised many, and remember, it only lost by one vote.

Senate

I only count 5 Senators that were there for the vote in 2000, however 19 new Senators came from the house and have voting records. Here is what I have found.

Yeas
Goschka, Hammerstrom, McManus, Sikkema
yeas from the house Allen,Basham, Bishop, Cassis, Garcia, Patterson, Sanborn, Schauer, Toy, Van Woerkom

Nays
Shirley Johnson
nays from the house - Brater, Cameron Brown**, Cherry, Clark-Coleman, Jacobs, Jelinek, Stamas, Switalski, Thomas
** Cameron Brown voted against in 2000, however he was the sponsor of the bill last year (5478) that tried to back door it in by giving the power to the NRC to designate game. That bill never made it to a vote.

One other note - Lt. Governor Cherry was one of only two Democrats to vote for it in the Senate in 2000.
