Venison Sirloin Tips on Rice

I fixed this one at deer camp this last week just to get everyone thinking about all of that good venison waiting to be put in the freezer.

For this recipe you will need:

1 lb. Sirloin steak, cut into 1" cubes
1 Cup brown rice
2 1/4 cups water
1 tbsp Olive oil
1 Tbsp butter
1 tsp dried minced onion
1 8 oz can cream of mushroom soup
2 Tbsp brown sugar
1/2 tsp ground basil
1 tbsp parsley flakes.

Procedure:

Heat Dutch Oven (I used a camp stove - a campfire works too), then add Olive oil to coat the inside.

Combine rice and water and bring to a boil and cook for 45 minutes or until the rice is done.

While rice is cooking:

Melt butter in a skillet and brown the meat and onions.

Add soup (concentrated), sugar, and basil, cover the skillet and cook for 10 minutes, or until the steak is tender.

Stir in the parsley flakes. If more liquid is needed, add more soup.

Serve the steak and mushroom gravy over the rice. This recipe served 4 hungry hunters and when they were done, the pan was empty.

Enjoy
