I don't have a fishing rulebook handy, and I don't ever remember seeing anything about chumming in it anyways. My question is: Can I use bait (spawn, mayflies, worms, wigglers, minoows, et cetera) to chum in an area that is "flies only" or "artificial lures only"? I would be only using the artificial lure or a fly on my line, no bait. Is this legal to do?
(I know alot of guys are gonna tear me a new you know what for asking this question, especially the flyfisherman).

Don't let them get to you Ladykiller because a lot of fishermen do it.
The truth, I'm going to have to check. I remember reading about a change a few weeks ago and I can't remember for sure what the change was. I believe the change was to make chumming illegal on trout streams but like I said, can't remember for sure. I will post the answer Monday when I get back to the office.

Boehr, I can take this one. Page 9 of the 2001 trout regs is what you want to refer to. Starting this year, you may NOT chum in any Flies Only or Lures Only water. Look at the fly and lure sections, which are type 5, 6 and 7. There's a + next to them. That + reads "It is unlawful to use or POSSESS live bait, dead or preserved bait, organic or processed food, or scented material on any of the waters or on shore." You can still chum in any water open to bait fishing. Type 1-4 streams.
