I have pasted an email from Rep. Susan Tabor for all to read. It is now in our hands!!!!! We all need to step up and get this passed once and for al!!!
Dear Michigan sportsmen and women:
I want to thank you for your support of hunting and other outdoor
recreational issues and am now asking for your active participation in
my effort to establish a mourning dove hunting season in Michigan.
Just today I introduced House Bill 5029, which would designate the
mourning dove as a game bird. It is crucial that you contact your
legislators and let them know you support HB 5029.
As you may know, the Michigan Legislature has attempted to establish a
mourning dove hunting season for many years but have failed thus far.
Many of you were involved in this issue back in the fall of 2000 when we
were successful in passing the legislation in the House, only to see it
fail by one vote in the Senate.
We cannot let this happen again. We cannot let the anti-hunting groups
such as the Humane Society and PETA continue to hold our legislature
hostage by bombarding their offices with messages opposing a dove
hunting season.
I need to have the thousands of sportsmen and women in our state
contact their legislators in support of HB 5029. If you don't know who
your representative and senator are, you can visit our legislative web
site at www.michiganlegislature.org, go to "Related Sites," and "Find
Your Legislator."
Again, thank you for your support of outdoor recreational issues and
your support of a dove season in Michigan. I urge you to contact your
legislators right away, and pass this message on to all of your family
and friends who share your love for the great outdoors and want to hunt
doves like they do in 39 other states.
Sincerely,
Sue Tabor
