Launched out of Sterling after work. I drove through the monsoons, betting that the rain would pass, which it did. Headed out for what I think is the Sputnik area (tall red/white marker at the end of the Maumee channel). Set 2 bottom bouncer lines with harnesses, and no sooner did I set the second line, when the first rod starts pumping. I grabbed the rod and started fighting an obviously heavy fish. It peeled off a lot of line; I was hoping it was a steelhead, but turned out to be a 25" sheephead, biggest one I have ever caught. Here's a picture, not the best, but my son is working on his camera skills.

Trolled about 1.3 mph out to 28FOW, then made the turn back west to Fermi. Picked up a nice eater eye and some dink perch, but kept a 7 incher. The fish came around 26.5 FOW or so, on the BB rigs.

Water temp 76, air temp about the same, winds about 8mph from the NE, waves 2-3 feet with regular 4 footers thrown in. Nice sunset, here is one of a few pics I took of the Monroe coal burning plant. It was a wet and bumpy ride in. One teal green boat taking out at the launch at 8:45, they had 6 eyes from 28FOW in 5.5 hours, drifting harnesses

You kept the sheephead? Using it for fertilizer?

Best thing to do with that 25" sheepshead is to take a picture and let it go and send in for your master angler patch. Min. length for fresh water drum catch and release is 22" and they don't put the picture of the sheepshead on the patch.
