Nice job on the opening page Zonker OSD and great pick for a fly! Have you ever used the adhesive backed lead foil sheets for the body? Good stuff.
I hope some of you folks got to try the zonkers from the swap. Whoever invented this fly needs a medal. I like them real early morning and at last light. Strip 'em like a madman where big browns play and they should take notice. Sometimes I get them going so quick that they almost burble like a popper because they are so high in the water column. I imagine they make a fine silhouette to a lurking predator. I caught (and I have witnesses  ) a 16" brookie on the Manistee with one and a 20" brown, in midstream in thin water on a sunny afternoon with one. I also caught a 20+" bass on a small public Oakland County lake with one. I guess you can tell, I LIKE "EM! This is one of the flies you use when a lot of other people put their fly rods away because 'the hatch' is over.
Besides, this is one of those rare flies that seem to work better with the cheapest of hackle.
This could be my 'one fly' fly.
Good pick, 'Dude!
