Just wondering if anyone has been out after this last weekend. I would like to get out soon but would like to know what the ice conditions are. Please share your info so we can stay safe. And stay safe yourself.
Thanks,
Eric

Bivenser, this time of year you NEVER can be sure of the ice conditions. It is best to take a spud and test it as you go. Generally speaking, the ice that is left should harden up with the cold snap. All the open water will lead to limits of fish for those who are careful. Stay away from "dark spots" that could very well be rotten ice. Canals are generally soft around the edges and hard in the middle this time of year. Personally, I fish close to home on ice that I know during last ice conditions. Be careul! <----<<<

I've fished both sides of the state north of M-72 this week - plenty of ice and still building on a lot of lakes. Should be good through March if the weather holds.

hey
Fished last night, 4 to 7 pm,Grand rapids area.
Had to hop from shore over onto the ice, need to bring a 2x8 bridge next time.
12" of good ice once you get away from shore.
We got 24 crappies, some 10 inchers, did well. Fish were just under the ice. Used minnows, strong bites.
