Apparently the ice was 8 inches thick in MOST PLACES, but not where this guy fell through. Just happened an hour or so ago. Be careful out there.

About a month ago I went out from the state park in Bay city, probably 3 miles out or so I don't have the exact numbers yet. Anyway I picked a spot to fish, drilled a hole and MAN 4 inches of ice! I was standing there with my quad next to me really thinking of leaving. I stayed but was surprised. Buddy fishing 50 yards from me was punching through 13 inches of ice. I guess ya never know.

That is enough to get anyone nervous....never seen that much variation in ice thickness in such a small area....Was there anything unique about the patch of ice you were on?

Anyone else ever run across something like that?
