Skunk Leech??

I was playing around after I finished my 12 flie's for the swap and tied this dude. The wife said that it look's like a Skunk. oops, better not say that too loud with the up-coming Salmon fishing, lol.

How do you tie it?

Hook size, material and secrets.

Just like the Galloup Laser Leech (black and yellow). Should be a fish catcher. Try a couple with silly legs hanging out the side. It would be similar to the Schmidt Michigan skunk streamer. They say they are killing the browns on them.

No secret's here. I get a pattern in my head tie it, if I don't like it, I take everything off the hook and try something else, lol.

Balck and White zonker strip's
#4 TMC 5262
Black thread, can't remember the size as it was enough to tie that one, lol.
Tie in the black one first. The tail should be about the same size as the hook, from eye to bend.
Once that is secure, tie in the white.
Hold both peice's of zonker strip in one hand and turn your vise, or your hand if you do not have a rotary vise.
Once you get to the eye, make a few wrap's to hold em down, clip the remaining strip's off, and then finish tying off.


Really easy to tie. The zonker strip's work great for when tying up a ESL. I hope this was not to confusing :)

How wide are the Zonker strips?

Around 1/8." I buy mine already pre-cut, 3 long peice's. Only get about 3-4 leech pattern's out of one strip. I think that you can get them bigger if you want them bigger. Or you can buy peice of rabbit fur and cut your own to the size that you want.
