How is the fishing out there, I have not heard much on the bite out there, also where is the nearest bait store and boat launch, trying to get out there this weekend.

Thanks in advance.

I kind of forget where exactly the bait shop is but its a party store i think called holdman's or someting, its a pretty good bait shop. The fishing can be great if you know where to go. if you want walleye hunt down the old river channel and drift harnesses or jig with worms. For bass find a good island and fish around it, there is so many places to catch them you have to explore and you will be rewarded. I caught and 8 lb. monster outta there this year. there is a load of big gills and crappies, fish the same areas you fish for bass. Here's a secret for bass in kent lake use the smallest jig you have. hope this helps.

Its called Holdens, right on milford road across from the entrance, they have bait and also make a killer sandwich to satisfy the post fish hunger;)

two boat launches in the park on opposite ends of the lake. some biggins in there too.:D

It's real weedy time of year and it can make for some frustrating fishing. Tons of cover and forage so the bass don't move much. You have to pretty much hit them on the head. Like Youngguns said, small and subtle seem best. I like white powergrubs or tubes in that lake.

I live real close to the lake, but rarely fish it anymore. Always had best luck under the I-96 bridge. In the heat of the day there are many small eyes and Smallmouth under there. You can drift through slowly with small jigs and leeches and almost always pick up a couple small eyes. Only problem is it's really noisy. Another good area to try is anywhere along the old river bed. The weeds are a problem almost everywhere in the lake but under the bridge and the deep areas in front of it are weed free for the most part.
If you are fishing in the spring try the areas where the huron comes into Kent lake. Many eyes run up the river and there are many acces points from kensington all the way up to the dam in Camp Dearborn.
There is a 10 mile per hour speed limit on the lake, so it makes for a calm fishing trip without the J-Ski's and speedboats..
