I am planning on doing some bass fishing in the SE Kent/ NE Allegan/ NW Barry area some morning this week. I am trying to decide which lake I would like to fish. I have narrowed it down to Campau, Campbell, Green, or Duncan because I have never fished any of those lakes and would like to try some new water. Could someone please help me narrow down my decision? I am not interested in stealing your secrets about tackle, location, ect; I'm just interested in selecting a lake.

Thanks in advance,

Brad

Green Lake can be a good bass producer, I have had some very good days out there in the past. If you get out there early enough you should miss most of the boat traffic. I haven't really fished any of the other lake you mentioned for bass so I can't give you much of a comparison. Good Luck!!

There are some decent bass in Campau, Ive caught a couple 3-4lb'rs on musky lures. Ive never targeted bass exclusively there, but we always end up with a couple every time we go musky fishing there. I will heavily caution you though, if you go to Campau, be prepared for tons of traffic. There always seems to be lots of traffic there, and a couple of the people that cause the most commotion live on the lake, and ski from sun up to sun down. There has been an accident or two out there this year, and I know the sheriff is more actively watching the lake due to tons of complaints also. So the traffic may have died down a bit since the last time I was out there, but I wouldnt count on it. If its a weekend, I would not suggest fishing at Campau. If its a weekday, you might be able to get an hour or two in first thing in the morning, or last thing at night.

Havent ever fished any of the others that you listed.

Ok. Thanks for the input guys. I'm going to try Duncan Lake on Friday morning (as long as is doesn't storm). Any imput about this lake would be greatly appreciated. I'll update tomorrow afternoon and let y'all know how I did.

I've never bass fished Duncan but it has some killer crappie fishing in the winter and spring. If I remember right there are two inlets to the lake, one that comes in on the northeast shore a couple of hundred yards or so away from the boat lanch and another one on the east shore about half way up the lake. The only outlet is all the way down at the very southern tip of the lake. Most of the lake drops straight off pretty much right from shore but there are a few weedbeds here and there on the dropoffs that I'd imagine would hold bass. The boat traffic isn't as bad as some of the lakes in the area but it doesn't take much to make it a pain to fish since the lake is so skinny. What time are you heading out there?

Fished Duncan Lake this morning from 6:45a.m. 'til the storms hit (about 11:00). It was a pretty successful outing considering it was the first time I had ever fished the lake. If anybody wants more details feel free to PM me; not sure I want to post it all here. Yea, it was that good.
