Well I set my pride down for the second time last night and fished for the golden ghosts....the first trip produced no fish...although my buddy battled one on his 8 wt fly rod shortly I am reluctant to shatter mine so I just use the noodle rod....last night I hooked up with one and after about a 8-10 minute battle...I landed him....its a great alternative to salmon fishing if ya can't get out every weekend...and a hell of a lot cheaper then filling the tank....not anything you'd want to eat but on 6 lb test.....you can't really beat the fight...I have yet to hook up with a big one...but I can imagine the fun of fighting one in the 15-25 pound range....last nights fish was small probably 8 or 9 pounds but still a hell of a battle....I used the chummin corn technique then a single hook with a slinky weight.....its actually my steelhead fishing set up...my thinking is....when it takes the bait....the weight will just set on the bottom as the line passes through it...and the carp won't detect the weight but you will still see the line moving.....worked good so far....has anyone tried any other techniques that work well....on the golden ghosts....its really a underrated fishery....theres so many lakes out there with them and they don't get fished hardly at all.....as long as the steelies aren't running might as well fight something..
