The complete draft St. Clair River-Lake St. Clair Comprehensive Management Plan is available for review and comment. The draft document is posted online at http://www.glc.org/stclair/manageplan.html.

The management plan was authorized by Congress under Section 426 of the Water Resources Development Act of 1999. The plan is being developed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Detroit District, and the Great Lakes Commission, in cooperation with U.S. and Canadian federal and state/provincial agencies, local governments, tribal/First Nation authorities, and other stakeholders. Additional background is available from the management plan web site at http://www.glc.org/stclair/.

The draft management plan includes a comprehensive review of environmental conditions in Lake St. Clair and the St. Clair River, a vision statement and principles to guide implementation efforts, goals and objectives, and a full suite of proposed recommendations for actions in the U.S. watershed. The draft document has not yet been fully coordinated with U.S. and Canadian federal, state and local governmental entities and does not indicate formal endorsement by these entities.
