After Badcast asked about dressing out pheasant, it seemd to be a good time to post a Pheasant-rescipe. This one is easy to prepare and makes for excellent eating.
Crockpot Pheasant in Cheese Sauce.
For this dish you will need the following:
1 Pheasant, skinned and cut up
2 cans cream of chicken soup, condensed
1 can cheddar cheese soup, condensed
1/2 tsp garlic powder.
Procedures:
Place pheasant in crockpot.
Mix the undiluted soups and garlic powder until they become an even consistancy.
Pour soup mixture over the pheasant.
Cover and cook on low 6 to 8 hours - or until the pheasant meat is tender.
Serve over noodles or rice.
I have used this same rescipe with cream of mushroom soup and turkey breast. Either way it makes an excellent wild-game meal.

Shoot, I just cooked Quail breasts in the crock pot yesterday. I added mushrooms and carrots and was looking at a can of Cheddar soup and was wondering if I should add it with the can Mushroom soup. Looking at this recipe I should have been daring.

If the pheasant hunt goes well enough for me I hope to be trying the recipe next week.
Thanks for all your work Salmonsmoker. I know your forum doesn't get the attention some of the others do but I appreciate all your work you do for the site.

I did a pheasant hunt this past late Oct and forgot About the 9 birds in the freezer. Yesterday a.m my wife dug them out and checked out this forum. This recipe was totally "off the scale" - outstanding! Nothing left after 4 adults & 2 kids went at it. Just wanted to give a kudos to you, the recipe & the site. Awesome!!!!:)

I did it with some Turkey breast and put it for the Pheasant Hunt Outing. I doubled up the recipe to feed 30 people and came back with very little left. Must of been a big hit.:D Thanks....

Just wanted to give this another thumbs up. We had it last night and the family didn't leave me much when I got home. Great meal to put in the crockpot in the morning before work and done when you get home.

I made this pheasant dish this evening and really enjoyed it. For a side dish, I went into the garage and cut out the loins of the deer I have hanging from Saturday. Made for a great wild game dinner.
I'd just like to add three things to this recipe:
1) season the dish when you first put it into the crock pot (salt and pepper to taste).
2) if you have some, add a cup of freshly grated parmesan cheese
3) Don't let the pheasant overcook. I had my wife put this together at 2:30 while I was at work. I ate it at 6:45 and the breast meat was a little dry (and I left the breast meat whole on the bone while cooking). Of course, she put it on high instead of low so that might have been my problem.
