For those of you interested in fishing for Muskies this weekend, HPYC is hosting the "Muskie Slam" this weekend.

Captains meeting 7:00 P.M. on Friday night, at HPYC. Entry fee is $200.00 per boat, unlimited number of anglers. HPYC is located next to the barge resturant on South River Road, almost to the state boat ramp.

Fish Saturday from daylight, to 1:00 P.M. on Sunday. Weigh master is at the Belle River Marina. 7/19 & 7/20.

New rules, no fish under 50", if you bring in a Muskie under 50" to weigh in, you will be disqualified for the tournament.

Last years winner was over 53", 80 boats participated last year, the winning boat was a very happy crew.

There will also be some "Calcutta" action on Friday night. I believe only 5 fish were lost last year out of 80 boats, this is a very low number, for the number of fish boated.

P.S. the public is invited to the weigh in and following festivities on Sunday at 2:00 P.M.. If you should make it bring along your cameras.

For more information contact HPYC at 586-468-3835.

Have some fun this weekend, weather looks good!

Have a great time guys! I"m pretty sure I'll be up North Trout fishing. This will be the 1st one I've missed in years. If for some reason the trip falls through, I'll see you at the Captains meeting!

John clicked the wrong button, if you can eliminate the last post replying to you not being able to attend, go ahead.

We fished yesterday, South from the St. Clair Light to the wine glass, then along the South shoreline to the Belle and back to the light. Not one rip. Millions of "nats", of which I think I consumed about an ounce of the little "buggars".

Water was flat, very little wind. Fishing a 31 Sear Ray this weekend, so we went out and tuned her up. First indication of a bad day, planner board line snapped, we were lucky in a sense, only lost a few releases.

Going back out this afternoon, will keep you posted!

Lots of muskie out there, just could not get them to go, hoping for better luck today.

Have a great weekend!

Your report makes me feel better Dick. I marked a lot of fish yesterday, didn't boat anything but a lot of weeds.

This one is in the history books. 78 boats registered for this years Slam.

The winners:

Teeko @ 52 7/8"
Gottcha Wendy @ 52 1/2"
Bandit @ 51 5/8"

Our boat took a total of 16 muskies, all released in good shape, several big pike and two walleyes. Our biggest fish came at 11:30 A.M. Sunday, South of the St. Clair Light on a "Jailbird" gottcha, 2 oz & 20 feet back on a board rod measured a tad over 50". Nice heavy fish but no length to battle the 1st, 2nd & 3rd place boats, fish was released to fight again.

Weather conditions were pretty awesome, except for the "knats" on Saturday, they drove us from the lake for about two hours, then we returned and fished to about 11:00 P.M., lost a screamer in front of the Belle River at about 9:40 P.M. Saturday, would have loved to seen that one.

All in all, we had a great time one bait took several fish a "strawberry perch" Lokie. Blue Frog Gottcha took four fish early Sunday morning, then they seemed to quit for a couple of hours. Pictures are forthcoming.

Here are a couple pics that Dick Graves sent me of our M-S member GOTCHA with his 2nd place fish! I tried to enlarge them but the quality was poor.

Hey Dr. Dick , Do you know if Gotcha ever had that fish on the scale , it looked like it had first place beat by 4 to 5lbs. First place weight was 33lbs. 7 oz. on monday at 6:00 p.m. (45 hrs. after being caught) . Thanks in advance , Bob

Pequod, Mikes fish tipped the scales at 36 pounds on Saturday when he had it measured at Belle River, just happened to be there to snap a few pictures.

Never did get much chance to talk, how did your crew do?

Thought we had something about 11:30 A.M. Sunday, heavy fish at around 50 inches, not quite enough. Maybe she will fatten up some more and grow a couple of inches by the Fall Muskie Classic in late Septemeber. Will get a flier for that event and post it on this board in August. That should be another GREAT tournament.

Enjoy the rest of the summer, it will be over in a heart beat.

Keep your lines tight:D :D

P.S. when they announced the 1 st place boat on Saturday I thought it was you:(

Hi Dr. Dick , Sorry to get back to you so late , the computer took a crap . We ended up 9 for 14 with two fish at 49 1/2 " with a bonus 28" eye on Sat. On Sun we we were 6 for 6 with nothing bigger than 45 " and another 25" eye . I'm thinking next year I may bring a muskie stretcher on the the boat with us . A great time was had by my crew . Hopefully I'll be fishing Mike's tournie in Sept. Tight lines , Bob
