boehr,
I've been checking into taking a class for the new ccw permit.Do you know if the state is going to come up with a standerd for the class or just go with the existing one that is in use now.I talked with a instructor that said he was waiting before teaching any classes for the new ccw until the state came up with the new guide line. Can you help me out here?

I suggest going to your local law enforcement deptartment. I found information there on classes approved by my county gun board.

Sorry, can't help you out there. The only guide existing so far is what is within the new law that was passed and that doesn't give any specifics only general terms of what is to be taught.
If I had to guess, one thing I would make sure of is that the instructor was either MCOLES (old MLEOTC, required for all law enforcement officer training standards) or NRA certified firearms instructor.
The instructor for the CCW coarse must be NRA Certified and I found," Handgun Training Specialists" were highly recommended so that is where I completed the coarse last year. They can be reached at (248) 844-8274 to sign up for the class.
