If we have a limit of 25 panfish what is the problem of having three rods out because after all we can't exceed our limit. I'm not talking about having 10 rods out but at times I would like to have a wax worm, crawler, and a red worm to see what they perfer(sp?).

I just read 2 letters to the editor of the Michigan Hunting and Fishing magazine in the February edition. They both mentioned this, and one of them acctually said it was a new law in Michigan. However there was no response from the editor to these letters. So, who better to clear up this confusion than our own expert.
If this is a new change, I have to say I would welcome it. Somedays when the fish aren't biting it might help to have a third line out with a different set-up. And the days when the fish are biting who would want to try to keep up with Three rods going anyway. As long as we keep within our limits does it really matter weather we used 1,2 or 3 rods to get out catch? I don't really understand the reason for a 2 rod limit anyway.

There is a new law for trolling for trout and salmon only on most, not all, of the great lakes, use 3 lines. As far as all rivers and all inland waters, and all other fish on the great lakes it is still 2 line limit. If you would like the law changed I would suggest to contact you legislator and NRC Commission.
