Something happened yesterday that I had never run into before.....Went to Sports store and purchased my turkey application. I was with my friend and he purchased his also. At the same time was denied the purchase of an application for his girlfriend. The year before he bought one for her at a different store. He was told that his friend would need to come in to purchase the license if she was drawn. One of the stores must be making a mistake.
If you need to come in person to get an application that is fine with me. In fact I think that is the way it should be. But if that is ok, This store is stopping potential hunters from their sport.
Thanks for your help.

Did your friend have all of the information he needed to apply for his girlfriend? Redtoads tried to apply for me and could not because she did not have my drivers license number with her.

When he stated that he wanted to apply for his girlfriend, the employee immediatly told him that it was chainwide policy to not allow someone to apply for another. So, he never produced her drivers license number.

I went to the expert, Tom Weston for the answer about appling and this is what he told me;
Yes anyone can apply for a friend since there are no hunter safety questions asked in the application. But when the customers buys the kill tag they must buy it in person to answer hunter safety.

I also have to say that if the store has a policy of wanting the individual there in person to apply, there is nothing wrong with that either. We all probably have policies that go with our jobs that tell us things must be done a particular way.
