Check out this cool pic of a fox snake I took at a boat launch in the upper over the weekend. This one is about as big as a yard stick we saw another one that was nearly double this size but didn't have the camera.

Nice colors on that one, we used to pull them out of the rocks at the marina on Lake Erie, but they were more of a bronzish, orange color. Its gets a little scary when they turn back against the "grain" at ya, when you're holding them. Although, I don't think they're poisonous. Its definitely not as easy as they make it look on TV. (holding a snake by the tail)

sweet!! that is a really cool picture. showing his teeth off for ya. weather its poisinous or not, it will still scare the crap out of ya when it bites, and it doesnt feel too good either. snakes are awesome creatures!!:D

I've never been bitten by them and I've picked many up; I didn't pick this one up because they usually urinate a little as a self defense mechanism and it stinks big time. This was actually on the gravel road that goes to the launch and I didn't want to have stink hand for the rest of the ride. Fox snakes are cool when they do the 'fake rattle' by moving their tail like a rattle snake, but they are relatively harmless and pretty cool. They are protected in Michigan and can’t be kept(we one as a ‘pet’ when I was younger). Here are a few more shots:
