HEY ALL YOU WALLEYE PROS, I AM NEW TO THE ART OF TYING MY OWN CRAWLER HARNESSES, I PRETTY MUCH KNOW EVERYTHING BUT THE BLADES. MY MAJOR QUESTION: WHAT TYPE OF BLADE(WILLOW, COLORADO, INDIANA, ETC) SPINS THE BEST WHEN YOU GET A VERY SLOW DRIFT.

The kind that comes in the package without capital letters.

lol @ quest...true true.

I just started tying my own a few days ago, took some to the bay yesterday and they caught a lot of fish.

I like colorado blades, they make more of a thumping vibration in the water, especially at low speeds. I like to get the biggest colorados I can.

If you want to show 'em something different , try the Smile Blades by MAC Lures . They turn at the slowest speed of any blade I know . Even when it slows to the point they're not turning , they start to wobble . They're made of nylon (?) I think , so you can actually bend 'em to control how they spin . They're kind of a finesse rig that doesn't thump , but sometimes thats what you want . Cabelas in Dundee has 'em . I bought 25 of the gold glitter ones the other day & taped 'em different colors to save some money .

the smaller the blade the less speed is needed to turn it. for grifting i would use a small #1 or #2 blade. for trolling in water such as saginaw bay, where walleyes are used to eating big bait, i would use a #4 or #6.

colorado for slow speeds.....indiana for intermediate and willow for faster speeds and less "thump"......smaller blades will spin better at the slower speeds.....but i aint no wallye pro......i only know how to catch salmon ;)
