I was just looking through some stuff i bought a few years ago, and noticed that i have a bunch of these new in the box. I've never used em before and would like to know of any experiences you have had with these lures and techniques/species you would use them for.
Obviously the skitter pop is a topwater popper type lure for bass and pike, just wanted to know if its worth me fishing it or not, or just stickin with my zara spooks and what not.

the skitter pop is one of my favorite top-water baits. it works great on inland lakes, as well as st. clair and certain parts of the river.
what colors do you have them in? what sizes are they?
the risto rap is a crankbait, that can be used for trolling for walleye, as well as casted and retrieved for bass and pike.
as far as the taildancer, im not as familiar with that lure, but if i saw it, i would have a better idea as to when/where to use it.

The Taildancer works great on early spring walleye in lake Erie. I like the red tail chub, emerald shiner and shad color patterns out there.

I love the skitter pops for active bass in big water. The clown one is my favorite.

the skitter pops i have are in silver blues and gold in 3 1/2" and one smaller (lost the boxes for em). tail dancers i have in 3 1/2" shad and redtail chub and 2 3/4" in those two colors also. Risto Raps i primarily have in the 2 3/4" size and have lots of colors, most of the ones i don't have the box to but are new, tennessee shad and silver blue are the only two i have the boxes for.
The taildancers look like the newer style body baits with the curved body, i'm gonna have to try these out sometime.....

tail dancers are awesome.......at the 6 or 7 dollar price range they better be........a slightly different wobble then a shad rap they make awesome wallye and pike baits.......i have a perch colered one that is full of holes and teeth marks from smoking the pike anw wallyes on that plug in canada.......too expensive for me to have too many but wow do they rail fish
Skitter pops are awesome on bigger lakes in the fall. I have marked schools of smallies 8-10 ' down in late fall that wouldn't react to any bait run just over or through them, but dance a skitter pop over their heads and they come up for them like an attack sub on emergency surface.

The Tail Dancer worked awesome for me on St Clair. Muskie seem to like it as well as countless Pike. Black and Silver worked very well. It has real good action and rattles. Keep them! Best of luck!

hey pikerpete,
how is the bass fishing on the straits? i was going to try to come up there next weekend and do a little fishing. are the water mosquitos (jet-skis) as bad as all of the surrounding lakes?
didn't mean to go astray from the subject at hand......if you fish st. clair, and you are on the water before it gets too busy, throw the skitter pop and hold on. the smallies love 'em!!! you can also use it for a search bait......the fish will rise up to investigate, but not hit it. then you can get them with a tube or other bait. try it sometime.
I have a tail dancer (Silver and black). I runs pretty deep on the retrieve, but floats when stationary, unlike a countdown or husky jerk. i think it would be a better trolling lure than a casted one, but I need to fish with it a bit more. Regarding the price, I got mine on sale at Cabelas. I you go, they usually have some type of Rapala on sale.
