He went on a short ride a few weeks ago but it was mainly hanging around with friends and not really riding. Well, a couple old biking friends and I decided to introduce him the right way. Coffe and bagel in the morning, good ride at a decent pace, plenty of fun, getting rained on partway through, someone ELSE getting a flat, and a stop off for a snack afterwards. Everything a great ride is supposed to be. Well, since he's been riding his BMX and riding for hours each day, his fitness and bike handling skills were outstanding. He easily kept up, took a few obstacles that nobody else did, and was grinning from ear to ear the whole time. He was worried that a few of us with more experience would have a field day with him, but that wasn't the case, he was faster and better than a friend that's been riding a few years but hasn't been on the bike once so far this year. Dang, I think I just found a new riding buddy. :)

Good for you! I hit the trails for the first time last week. I'm usually a roadie. I am sooo hooked. Now I need a new bike. LOL! My son and I are now debating about taking the bikes on vacation. I really think that where we are going there will be hiking only types of trails.

1wildchild, where you going? Just because there aren't any formal trails right where you're vacationing doesn't mean there's not something else nearby.
And we're building my son new bike for his birthday the end of this month. Yeah great, another project with not a lot of time to work with. :( I think it'll be worth it when all is said and done. After a huge bit of horse-trading, I'm even getting some cool stuff out of the deal.
I've been doing a huge amount of road riding the past few weeks, around 100 miles just last week alone. I should have been doing this back in April/May to get my legs back. Well, a late start is better than no start at all.

I'm heading for pictured rocks. We have some day hikes planned and two possible canoe trips. If we bring the canoe, we can't bring the bikes. There is plenty of time for biking around here and our weekend place.

I rode part of the National Forest just outside of Munising. Fun time, even considering I got lost  Enjoy the trip.
