Just picked up my camtrakker today and got the pics developed. I got pictures of 6 different bucks. All of them hit the same scrape. I had the camera set up over a scrape.

This is a picture of the big one I shot on Sunday. He is rub urinating on the scrape.

This deer is also rub urinating on the scrape.

All but 2 of my pics were after dark. The 2 that were during the day are of the last buck

Awesome pics!! Can I come hunt with you???

anyway, I have a question for ya, does taking the pictures spook the deer at all--do they or have they abandoned this scrape? I would think the flash would spook them into the next county. Just wondering.

I do not think the flash has any effect on them. I have gotten multiple pictures of the same deer in the past.

Gee wish mine worked as well.I had to send mine back five times since july. My old unit use to take the whole roll everytime the wind would blow. They sent me another unit and got it out now. Hopefully this one will work as it suppose to. Happy hunting......marty

Never heard of a camtracker! How does it work and how much does one cost?

Weezer you can go to camtrakker.com It has some info. I'll tell you what I know. They work on heat in motion. The first unit I had keep tripping on windy days. When I would get my film processed I would have 25 pics on the woods. However they went ahead and sent me out a brand new unit( Great customer service). They use a yashika (SP) with a zeiss lens If you ever price zeiss rifle scopes you will understand the price. With the locking cable it came to $464.99. I read a lot of reports and camtrakker was rated tops. Just my 2 cents.......marty

I don't think the flash would make any difference to the deer. They see lightning all the time and I don't think they are that smart to know the difference...SnS

Thanks alot Basscat, you're pictures are going to cost me $470! I had been thinking of getting a camtrakker, but wanted to wait until I got some user reviews. Now after seeing the great pictures from yours I am going to have to buy one. How am I going to explain this expense to my wife? Maybe if I take back the pop cans and sell some hockey cards? Hmm...

Great Pictures!

What's your delay set on your cam-tracker. How much time do you allow between pictures to be sure you're not shooting an entire roll on one deer?

Neat toy and great pics, actually better than the ones I have seen in their ads. I'm leery of getting one though. If you've ever had some magpie steal your treestand then you can understand what I mean. If you have the time it's fun to scout the old fashioned way but I'd sure like to leave one of these facing a gut pile. Mine were gone overnight!!

I had the delay set at 3 minutes on these pictures. The camera was positioned over a scrape. When I have it set up on a run, I set it 30 seconds(mine has been modified to allow a 30 second delay). When I have it set up on a mineral lick, I set it for the longest delay. I learned from previous mistakes. I shot a whole roll of film in one night on a mineral lick. Lots of pictures of the same deer.

I just set my new camtracker out this weekend. Naturally, I have to fight the urge to go see how many pictures have been taken. I see how one can get adicted to the one hour photo store. I figure that I will check back with it in about a week. Does that sound right?

How much are they and where can I get one?

How does it blend in with the woods? Even though I hunt private land, I know a lot of my neighbors walk around on our property. I wouldn't want one of them "borrowing" it. Also, does it flash in the daytime also, or can you set that just for night?

If you go to the camtrakker website, they have a lot of other pictures from other customers. Some are pretty crazy.

They run $469. You can also have camtrakker modify the timer also so that it will take a picture every 30 seconds. Never know when a buck is following a hot doe. The new ones are kind of a grey in color. Still easy to spot. You can set it for day or night or both. Tip for the one hour photo. Have them develope the negatives before they print the pictures. Decide which pictures you want printed. I once mounted my camera by a branch and it was windy. I got a whole roll of pictures of a branch blowing in the breese. It only cost me $1.75 to get the negative developed. Alot cheaper than the $7.00 it normally costs. During the winter I do not have mine out. The lense seams to frost over on the cold mornings and I do not get good pictures. You might want to try some Rain-ex or something on the glass to prevent it from frosting. I treat my camtrakker with the same scent control as I do myself when I hunt.

Hope this helps everyone out.

Funny how you said that almost all of the pictures were at night.....

Tim Baker

Lawnboy, that is the discouraging part. The one time I had mine out during the peak of the rut it took 15 pictures and only one picture was during legal shooting hours. I didn’t have it in a spot that I normally hang a treestand so that might have had something to do with it but it makes you realize that most of the tracks you see are from night time activity.

Here is the whole story on this set of photo's.

I had my camera out for three days over looking a large scrape that I had been monitoring. After 3 days, I walked a scent drag around the property and walked by the scrape. I stopped by the scrape, and put some tink's 69 doe-in-rut gel on the scrape. That night, the scrape was visited by ALL 6 BUCKS. The last buck visited it right after I put the scent on the scrape, plus later on after dark. The scrape was also visited by a couple of does.

You can see in the photo's that 2 of the bucks are rub urinating on it.
