Have not heard you guy's talking about any muskie fishing, any good reports from any of you ? Or are you just after the wally's ?
46 days and counting since I put one in the net. Its been tough out there. Im sure the st clair guys are doing well, but the little lakes in southwest michigan arent producing very well for us. Ive got 4 on the year, and 2 were caught in Indiana. :(

I lost a big one on Monday.
I also went and bought a few new plugs that will get wet on Sunday.
I have only had the boat out on opening day.
Had a good evening a couple days ago, we were into them thick from shore. Who needs a boat...........LOL

Last Musky I saw was in Whitmore lake many years ago. It was swimming after my Rooster Tail all the way to the boat then just swam away. I believe it was well over 40 inches.
Heading out tonight after work. I have a buddy up from Ohio (Ramlund Man). I wont dare hit the lower lake with the fireworks tonight, we will have to try AB, and I am not brimming with confidence about that this late in June. Might just have to chase some of those weenie Bass instead. I will be out tomorrow all day too, but the weather report has me scared of venturing very far either. I have all the luck.

Trolled Anchor Bay Sat for three hours, not one rip. I'm still an amateur though. Hopefully you'll have better luck.

I may hit Whitmore Lake again in the fall. I figure if I spincast for Pike...and try float fishing with a large chub or Bluegill I may pick up a Musky. The thought of using up several days of fishing targeting Musky does not appeal to me. I need to have some action to keep me awake. Even if it means catching runt gills.LOL I usually use my gills as bait. I had a huge Pike on and lost it because I did not use a wire leader. Had it all the way to the boat then snap! I thought it was a Musky at first. This fish had to be over 4 feet. Yeh .....I know!......another.. the one that got away story. LOL Hey I think it is these moments that make us keep trying for those monsters.
I still like targetting other species now and then (gotta keep the freezer full of salmon/bluegill/perch/etc) but there still isnt anything that compares to the thrill of the musky for me. Its been nearly 50 days since I hooked up with one, but I still pound the water! They may not be as much action as a day of bass fishing on a numbers lake, but ill take a few shutouts and a 20lb musky over several trips of draggin in the bass just about anyday!

I here ya!..........One summer I just targeted Pike and caught some big fish......but did get shut out a few times. The big Largemouths and Pike were worth it. I used 20 pound line and casted large Mepps Spinners and Spoons into the weedbeds. I would not use treble hooks because of the wweeds. This worked very well. Sometimes I would have so many weeds on my line I did not even know I had a fish on till I got it in the boat.LOL I soon swithched to Rooster Tails and this was very productive at the edge and over weedbeds.
