flydunker,
I have a friend who has a place on Mecosta and have fished it through the ice. We catch lot's of pike, bluegill, and perch. Have also caught quite a few bass when ice fishing (released). I know there are Walleye in there, and I think some Muskies. I've never fished it in the summer, but have been meaning to. I know there are special regs on the lake for no-wake speeds during certain hours to help fight the damn jet ski's. Let me know how you do.

in lake mecosta,

...if you left the boat launch, and go out into the lake, you'll find a big island, go to your left of the island and fish in that area...we had a monster up to the boat last year

Well my home lakes.
school section has fish. I have never done well on it. The gills seem smaller than what you can find in Mecosta which is connected to blue and round lakes also. I look for deep weed beds and fish a tight line slowly moving the boat until I find the better gills. Worms, crickets, and pieces of crayfish work. They can be selective at times. The tri-lakes have good bass and pike also. There where tiger musky and may be some remant population still there. The sleeper place to try is the martiny chain of lakes. There are a numerous lakes all connected. Tubbs,Evans,Boon, and lost are just scrathing the surface of names. There always seems to be somthing biting in this chain of lakes. Fishing gills you never know what is moving the bobber it could be a gill, bass many in the 5lb.class it has somthing for everyone.

I am with mondrella. If you can, hit the martiny lake flooding. The Big Evans and the Lower Evans are allways good.

another vote for the martiny flooding. this spring when we where up at our place turkey hunting we caught some nice perch by the dam on tubbs lake. seems like you can always get into the gills and some pike along the weed beds.last summer we caught some good size pike and dogfish using shiners and bobbers. we will be back up there fishing the second week of july so let me know how you did.

My mistake guys we are camping at Holidat Terrace on Round lake. I will be there all weekend I have a 16 fooot red and white sylvan, it will be carrying a big ugly guy more than likely without a shirt on . If you see me give me a shout and I will offer you a barley pop ( back at the camp not on the boat)
